Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking a Sports Information Director. The Department of Athletics & Recreations provides all athletic and recreation activities for students, staff, faculty, and alumni on the Newark Campus. This position reports directly to the Athletics Director. The position provides all public relations, sports information, activities, marketing, and fundraising information for the aforementioned areas. This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Serves as primary liaison to the media, creating timely dissemination of information, including news releases, event results, statistics, etc.
- Provides all media related activity, including media relations, interaction with opposing team sports information offices, and reporting of event outcomes to the appropriate media outlets.
- Plans, develops, coordinates, and implements strategies to enhance marketing and promotion of varsity teams, athletics, and special events. Creates and places departmental print and electronic advertising as required.

Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, sports management or related field and a minimum of three to five years of experience with Sports Information at a college level.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently, as well as with staff and students.
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills; extensive computer experience is necessary.
- Knowledge of NCAA statistical data and reporting system.
- Knowledge of and experience in management and operation of athletic web page (SideArm, Presto Sports, or IMG).
- Knowledge of social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
- Computer graphics and photography skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in journalism, public relations, or sports management.
- Experience as Director or Assistant Director of Sports Information at college level.
- 5 years of experience as Director or Assistant Director of Sports Information at college level or related experience in the sports media industry.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to work under sometimes challenging physical conditions and to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs, per OSHA standards.
