Seeking an energetic, passionate, and self-motivated person to join our leadership team and grow and develop our established youth and adult sports and aquatics programs. Must be highly organized with excellent communication skills and dedicated to propelling the mission of the YMCA.
POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality, member focused YMCA youth & adult sports and aquatics programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Directs and supervises sports and aquatics program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
2. Expands sports and aquatics programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
3. Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, developing, scheduling and directing staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
4. Monitors and directs daily operations of sports and aquatics programs and adheres to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.
5. Creates and facilitates program and registrations for both sports and aquatics programs. Organizes and schedules program registrations into rosters. May review and process program scholarship applications.
6. Organizes and conducts sports and aquatics lessons, practices, games, tournaments, clinics, special events, etc.
7. Develops and distributes aquatics and sports rosters, team practice and game schedules; trains and schedules sports officials; develops and distributes sports/aquatics rules, guidelines and handbooks. Organizes and conducts parent orientation meetings, and training and meetings for coaches.
8. Secures and schedules all athletic facilities for all program activities (including fields, gymnasium, pool, etc.). Acts as first line of communication with PHSW custodial and athletic department staff in regards to pool.
9. Purchases and distributes participant uniforms, awards, progress sheets; coordinates and distributes team photographs.
10. Monitors, maintains, and purchases necessary program equipment as budget permits. Transports and sets up equipment for games, practices, lessons, meets, etc. Maintains sports & aquatics program spaces.
11. Assists in the marketing and distribution of sports & aquatics program information.
12. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
13. Compiles sports and aquatics program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in each program.
14. Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
15. Actively participates in Leadership Team initiatives.
16. Performs all other duties as assigned

* QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent and/or two years of related sports and aquatics experience.
2. Lifeguard Certification preferred.
3. Minimum age of 21.
4. CPR, First Aid, AED, Lifeguard certification, Child Abuse Detection & Prevention, Creating the Member Experience, Listen First, New Employee Orientation, Universal Precautions, and Working with Program Volunteers training required within 90 days of hire date.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of the position and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of settings including outdoors, pool environment, gymnasium, etc.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
