Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA program(s). Oversees the overall management and operations of Youth and Adult Sport programming. This position has responsibility for budget development and control, recruitment and training of staff and volunteers, programming, equipment maintenance, quality checks, enforcing safety standards and other YMCA of Southwest Florida policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

General Responsibilities
  • Prepares, develops and administers budgets for the department utilizing SGA software and meeting the budgeted net by year end.
  • Manages sports programs, including rosters, volunteers, and parent communications exclusively through Playerspace.
  • Develops a year-round schedule for sports programming.
  • Prepares and implements marketing plans for all areas of responsibilities to ensure growth each year.
  • Submits program information in accordance to cabinet and marketing published deadlines.
  • Is available to work evenings and weekends as called upon or as schedules dictate due to seasonal programming needs.
  • Assists with implementation of family programming and special events.
  • Works cooperatively with other department heads, volunteers, committees, community organizations and departments.
  • Attends and participates in all staff meetings and trainings and encourages other staff to as well.
  • Recruits and supervises quality staff and volunteers to further the mission of the YMCA and enhance programming =.
  • Provides quality ongoing training for staff and volunteers that will enhance their capabilities and be applicable to their everyday work.
  • Provide director, hands on and documented training for staff, coaches and volunteers.
  • Performance job functions with an enthusiastic manner and demonstrate commitment to the Strategic plan and initiatives.
  • Ability to work with diverse community members of all ages and demonstrate initiative in program development.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Maintains fields, facilities and equipment related to the department activities.
  • Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department.
  • All other duties as assigned

Program Specific Responsibilities
  • Youth/Adult Sports
  • Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities.
  • Organizes and conducts parent orientation meetings
  • Organizes and conducts coaches training and meetings.
  • Creates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations.
  • Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules.
  • Trains and schedules sports officials.
  • Develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.
  • Purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards.
  • Coordinates and distributes team photographs.
  • Organizes and hosts season parties and events.
  • Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices.
  • Monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment.
  • Organizes and conducts sports clinics.
  • Camps
  • Creates and schedules all camp sessions and activities.
  • Monitors daily camp operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
  • Secures facilities and admission for camp field trips and events.
  • Secures and monitors transportation for field trips.
  • Purchases and maintains supplies for camp including camp shirts


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of department leadership, preferably within the YMCA or other not for profit organization.
  • Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association's policies on background screening
  • Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy
  • Able to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Able to research and analyze
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter, with high energy and a positive attitude

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications required
  • Completion of YMCA Leadership certification within 90 days.
  • Annual Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training
  • Annual Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class
  • Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols
  • Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor


Salary Description

45,000 to 50,000 annually
