Job purpose
General Hospitality Job Responsibilities
- Maintain hotel’s Quality Customer Service standards and uphold the mission statements through the strict follow up of the Hospitality Rules.
- Maintain and abide to time clock rules, report to work area on time.
- Keep high grooming standards at all times and keep work area clean and safe.
- Wear, maintain and follow uniform standards at all times.
- Must become familiar and proficient in all aspects of the property, departments, locations, hours of operations, rooms, activities, etc. respond to guests accurately.
- Use guest etiquette at all times.
- Follow proper Handling Inquiries/Requests and complaints standards, and maintain the guest satisfaction rule at all times.
- Use proper telephone etiquette and answering techniques when answering the telephone.
- Anticipate guest’s needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, at all times.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
- Follow proper emergency and safety procedures at all times.
- Assist all disabled guests, catering to their special needs as much as possible.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor the staff attendance daily
- Review staffing radios and handout staff assignments
- Follow up on equipment maintenance
- Pick up radio and keys at beginning of shift
- Report undesirable visitors to security immediately
- Handle guest/employee injuries promptly and according to hotel procedures
- Inspect linen and supply closets on all floors for maintenance, cleanliness and stock
- Check Room Attendant’s carts for maintenance, cleanliness and stock
- Check Room Attendants cleaning supplies; make sure they are approved
- Check all vacant rooms and report any discrepancies
- Check rooms for possible repairs and follow up with maintenance
- Inspect the VIP rooms
- Guide, motivate and encourage performance of staff
- Consistently train attendants’ standards
- Conduct weekly standard training
- Conduct orientation and on-the-job training for all employees
- Coach and counsel employees when needed and always with fair and equal treatment
- Accept and communicate employee feedback
- In case of shortage, fill in to complete the job
- Supervisors are accountable at all times for: Achievement of standard of all tasks according to the SOP’s of each employee, training of standards, evaluating of employee performance on a daily basis, counsel and discipline when needed according to employees rules and regulations, retrain employees and keeping department head well informed on employee performance
- Spot check room attendants cleaning results
- Attend meetings as scheduled
- Sign-out beeper/radio and housekeeping keys, log all keys in logbook
- Inspect all completed rooms and ensure that all clean rooms meet hotel’s quality standards
- Turn completed inspection sheets to Asst. Housekeeper/Housekeeper on a daily basis
- Monitor employee’s lunch break
- Check attendants sheets during lunch break and at the end of the shift
- Inspect check-out rooms in time and report to Front Desk
- Prioritize early arrivals and VIP rooms
- Check all expected departure rooms and check-out rooms and communicate with room attendants to prioritize rooms
- Monitor “Do Not Disturb” rooms following hotel procedures on DND rooms and report any discrepancies at once
- Inspect offices, follow up on cleanliness
- Inspect Hospitality room for cleanliness, maintenance and stock
- Count and log all dirty and clean linen in log book
- Inspect public areas, public restrooms, restaurants and pool area
- Report all maintenance problems on a work order and follow up accordingly
- Inspect rooms daily using the inspection list
- Communicate with Assistant Housekeeper/Housekeeper continuously
- Anticipate guest needs as necessary
- Secure all lost and found items at storage of lost and found items
- Take monthly linen inventory at end of the month
- Check incoming and outgoing laundry
- Walk through assigned areas that have been completed and check to see that they are cleaned to standards
- Be familiar with the property’s fire and emergency program
- Any other reasonable duties as required
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working conditions
This position works in the usual Guest environment with the usual considerations to space, lighting and ventilation. In addition to the Guest room this position may do work in the field.
