We are searching for a motivated & experienced Shift Manager
Supervises and coordinates activities concerned with production of company products utilizing knowledge of production technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of machines and equipment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Reviews production schedule to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products in order to plan department operations..
- Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
- Help employees in start-up the line, shut down the line, and quick change over in order to reduce downtime.
- Coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications in conjunction with the production planner.
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational and manufacturing problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Work in tandem with maintenance management and Director of Manufacturing to resolve and/or address maintenance problems.
- Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
- Develops, revises or helps create standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance against the standards.
- Compiles, stores, and retrieves any and all production data.
- Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards by overseeing the efficiency of manufacturing.
- Coordinates production activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
- Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating problems and improve product quality.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment regarding operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality and efficiency.
- Inspects products and equipments in conformance with specifications.
- Identifies issues affecting efficiencies and assists in developing solutions.
- Responsible for line productivity in regards to line efficiency, batch yields, uptime vs. downtime, OEE(Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and labor utilization.
- Ensure the highest level of commitment to Safe Quality Food (SQF) in order to provide assurance that all products have been produced and handled according to the highest possible standards.
- Revises production schedules and priorities and results of equipment failure or operating problems with the Director of Manufacturing.
- Consults with maintenance personnel and the Director of Manufacturing to review any modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
- Must have the ability to remain on production floor 80% of time during production hours.
- Ability to troubleshoot when issues arise and must possess excellent decision-making skills.
- Ensure KPI's are met in all areas including Safety, Quality, Production and Cost.
- Monitor all results of all line in specific facility including line speeds, scaling ingredients, mixing, line operations, baking(as required) and packaging.
- Lead, mentor and supervise others to generate expected results.
- Management of resources to optimize - equipment, facilities, employees, methods and materials
- Use analytical skills to determine root cause issues of incidents, or optimization of processes and incident investigation tools.
- Completes attendance reports, evaluates performance of his/her team and coaches associates, and train employees
- Reviews safety issues with all subordinate staff.
- Interfaces with Quality Control to maintain product quality standards.
- Works with the Director of Manufacturing and Human Resources to develop training and orientation of supervisors and employees as well as in leading continuous improvements activities and initiatives.
- Maintain a safe working environment and high morale of employees.
- Foster an environment to create positive, proactive communications and problem solving opportunities amongst supervisors and production personnel.
- Recommend the selection and deployment of direct subordinates.
- Reviews and interprets established production KPI's (Key performance indicators) with the Director of Manufacturing and establishes target areas and corrective actions as necessary to achieve company goals and objectives.
- Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
- Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments. Must follow all Company Safety policies, as well as all GMP regulations
- As part of your supervisory responsibility and as a back-up, supervisors must be able to do your work in ways that ensure safe food. You must also be aware of issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your job. Formal training is not required, but in house Food Safety Training conducted by a qualified staff member is mandatory. You must know how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards. This position requires good working knowledge of the SQF code
- Associates Degree; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The Shift Manager must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- He/she must be able to identify and analyze constraint processes and implement solutions.
- He/she can plan and conduct professional meetings to keep staff informed and focused.
