Position Summary

The Student Recruiter will be responsible for coordinating and conducting college-wide recruiting activities, assisting in preparing promotional materials, organizing programs, coordinating campus tours for student recruitment purposes, and working with area high schools, businesses, community agencies, and College faculty.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate all recruitment activities for the College, and develop an annual Recruitment Plan, including implementation and evaluation strategies.
  2. Serve as the primary recruiting contact for the College, particularly in maintaining close contact with area counselors, principals, superintendents, area businesses, other organizations, and College faculty.
  3. Visit area high schools to distribute and present College materials; discuss College information with students, parents, counselors, and other groups; answer inquiries concerning admissions, financial aid, and academic offerings; and maintain accurate records of the results of the College recruitment plan.
  4. Coordinate and/or attend all college and career programs, scholarship awards, programs, and graduation programs as requested.
  5. Advise students concerning academic and career opportunities, assist in determining admission eligibility and in reviewing scholarship applications.
  6. Facilitate correspondence to prospective and non-returning students.
  7. Assist the Director of Financial Aid with admissions and financial aid workshops in area schools and in the community as requested.
  8. Coordinate all campus recruitment programs, including College 101 programs and other visitation programs.
  9. Coordinate the development of promotional materials, including the viewbook, brochures, mailed pieces, and other student recruitment publications.
  10. Maintain affiliation with professional organizations and actively participate in professional development activities.
  11. Compile and maintain budget records and reports as assigned.
  12. Serve on the College committees and serve as committee chair when needed.
  13. Manage the Institutional Scholarship Awards process in cooperation with the Scholarship Committee.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, business, or related field.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.

Employees/Dependents at two-year colleges:
  • 1/3 waived after 1st year
