Position Summary

NOTE: CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE OBSERVES EASTERN TIME.

The Workforce Specialist will provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the Associate Dean of Career and Technical Education and Workforce Training and the Director of Workforce Development. This role is pivotal in enhancing the Workforce Training Center's efforts to improve student success through effective program support, coordination, and communication.
Salary: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule E4 05 ($36,484-$51,793), which is based on years of directly related full-time experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  2. Provide administrative support to the Associate Dean of Career and Technical Education and Workforce Training and the Director of Workforce Development, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining records.
  3. Assist with the coordination and implementation of programs aimed at improving the Workforce Training Center.
  4. Manage correspondence, including drafting emails, memos, and other documents.
  5. Organize and maintain proper files, databases, and other resources.
  6. Assist in tracking project timelines, deliverables, and outcomes.
  7. Coordinate logistics for meetings, events, and workshops related to the Workforce Training Centers' activities.
  8. Support data collection, data entry, and reporting processes to ensure accurate and timely information is available for program assessments.
  9. Handle routine inquiries from students, staff, and external partners regarding the Center's initiatives.
  10. Assist with budget monitoring and processing of purchase orders and reimbursements.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Career and Technical Education and Workforce Training.
  12. Be available, upon request, to serve as the on-site admin for CVCC during the weekday and/or weekend Skills for Success in person labs.

  9. Participate in advance registration, regular registration, and schedule adjustment.
  10. Serve on committees as assigned.
  11. Assist in the planning of and and participate in graduation and other College activities.
  12. Participate in the College's planning process.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution, in business, education, or a related field
  • Two (2) or more years as an administrative assistant, secretary, or other directly related clerical position
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with database management
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bilingual (Spanish)

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.

Employees/Dependents at two-year colleges:
  • 1/3 waived after 1st year
