The Corner Health Center is Michigan's first, largest and most comprehensive adolescent and young adult health center. The Corner serves youth and young adults ages 12 through 25 (and their children) and has over 40 years of experience providing care to individuals with complex needs. About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated HR Generalist to join our team. As the organization's sole human resources professional, you will report directly to the Executive Director and be responsible for managing the day-to-day human resources operations, including but not limited to recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, policy review and management, and timekeeping/payroll management. You will play a key role in ensuring that our organization attracts, develops, and retains top talent, while maintaining a positive and inclusive work environment, in line with our commitment to equity and judgment-free care.

As an HR Generalist, you will utilize your strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with employees and managers. You will also use your knowledge of employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate risk. Your ability to work independently and as part of a team will be essential in managing the day-to-day operations of the HR department as a "team of one." Additionally, your experience with recruitment, employee relations, and benefits administration will be critical in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent at the Corner Health Center.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in HR, with a focus on recruitment, employee relations, and compliance.
- 3+ years in a nonprofit, mission-driven context
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- SHRM or SPHR certification.
- Experience in the Health Care and Social Assistance industry.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Connect.
- Experience with performance management and employee development programs.
- Manage the recruitment process, including job postings, resume screening, and interviewing candidates.
- Coordinate onboarding, including maintaining onboarding packet materials, updating the employee handbook, a
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies and procedures, including drafting and updating policies as directed by the Executive Director.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR databases, for staff, students/interns, and volunteers.
- Manage the ADP timekeeping and payroll process, including reminders/spot-checking of time card completion.
- Coordinate annual employee performance evaluation process in partnership with managers.
- Other administrative and HR duties as assigned.
