General Job Description
The Production Specialist is responsible for optimizing the manufacturing process, ensuring product quality, and supporting production teams with technical expertise. The role typically involves working closely with different departments, troubleshooting issues, and improving processes for maximum efficiency. The Production Specialist is responsible for optimizing the activities of the production floor and leads team members to identify, manage, and execute the plant’s process improvement opportunities to attain production and quality goals. Able to identify problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolve issues. Ensures production resources, including materials, equipment, safety and environment are available to maintain production schedules. Supports continuous improvement goals in safety, environment, quality, cost, and customer service.

Responsibilities:
•Work with production managers to develop and implement production schedules, ensuring that deadlines and production targets are met.
•Assist with inventory management, ensuring that raw materials and supplies are available to meet production needs.
•Analyze production processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
•Implement continuous improvement techniques such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma to streamline operations.
•Provide technical expertise and support during the production process to ensure smooth operations.
•Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment, material, or process-related issues.
•Ensure that products meet the required quality standards and specifications by working closely with the quality control team.
•Monitor production metrics and adjust processes to maintain quality and performance targets.
•Assist with the setup, calibration, and maintenance of production equipment.
•Ensure that all equipment is functioning properly and recommend upgrades or repairs as needed.
•Train production staff on best practices, safety protocols, and the proper operation of machinery and tools.
•Provide ongoing coaching to enhance the skills of the production team.
•Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and production standards.
•Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective measures to reduce risks and improve working conditions.
•Ensure communication throughout the Production Floor and other departments by maintaining crossover meeting integrity.
•Interact with the Engineering Department on equipment tryouts, job configuration, and standards.
•Participate in activities to achieve quality, productivity, scrap, and cost reduction goals.
•Maintain high housekeeping standards in respective areas, including the production floor, machines, behind the plant, packing/WIP, and coordination at the press.
Minimum Qualifications or Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
•Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on troubleshooting and process improvement.
•Technical skills with an understanding of production machinery and processes.
•Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
•Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office.
•Must be willing to travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Familiarity with software like ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), or other production tracking tools.
•Familiarity with automation technologies and robotics used in modern manufacturing processes.
