Sompo has a unique opportunity for an AVP, North American Benefits in our Total Rewards Center of Excellence within the HR team.
Reporting into the Vice President of Global Benefits, this position will manage all aspects of health and welfare benefits, retirement plans, wellbeing activities, and leave administration in the U.S., Canada, Bermuda & Mexico. This includes, but is not limited to design, compliance, delivery oversight, HR service center training, vendor management, and financial accounting. Working closely with the Total Rewards Leadership team to drive Sompo's Total Rewards Strategy to ensure benefits are cost effective, competitive, and compliant.

What you'll be doing:
* Reviewing benefit trends within the company, opportunities for improvement and making recommendations; assisting with benefit studies to ensure local market competitiveness; compiling and analyzing against internal as well as industry and peer companies and making recommendations including program revisions and/or new program designs/benefits.
* Collaborating and coordinating with relevant stakeholders (payroll, communications, HR partners, HR service center, people leaders) to ensure processes related to benefits design, delivery, and administration are efficient, correct, and employee friendly.
* Overseeing all aspects of healthcare plan spend, design, analytics, and administration, which includes monitoring of claims, accrual levels, and stop loss utilization.
* Developing communication strategies for effective benefit communications, outreach, messaging, and branding.
* Managing all phases of renewal discussions, change management as needed, consideration of changes to existing benefits or addition of new benefits, and directing implementation of new or changes to programs.
* Managing vendor relationships and performance of vendors.
* Projects and other duties may be assigned.
What you'll bring:
* Minimum of 7 years of experience in US benefits including medical, Rx, dental, vision, STD/LTD/FMLA, life, voluntary plans, executive benefits, and wellbeing programs.
* A undergraduate degree, preferably in HR or related field
* Strong knowledge of benefit plans and applicable laws including Section 125 regulations, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, IRS, and FLSA regulations.
* Experience with Workday highly desired
* Good analytical skills and ability to maintain confidentiality of information in position.
* Strong written, verbal and listening skills, able to interface with employees at all levels.
* Strong project management skills having managed significant benefits projects along with the drive to execute by established deadlines.
* Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills necessary
Salary Range: $140,000 - $170,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
