Overview:


A leading M&A advisory firm specializing in international deals seeks a seasoned Managing Director to spearhead its US-Japan M&A practice. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of initiating and closing complex cross-border transactions. As a key leader, you'll oversee a wide range of investment activities, including deal sourcing, due diligence, and transaction execution.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Provide strategic advice and exceptional client service throughout the entire market-entry, exit, and acquisition process, from initial engagement to post-closing integration.
  2. Actively identify and pursue new buyer and seller-sides of opportunities to cultivate seeds for cross-border transaction opportunities.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with both Japanese and US-based businesses, acting as a trusted advisor.
  4. Structure optimal deal terms to maximize client value and lead deals to the phases of due diligence, valuation, and negotiation.
  5. Oversee the team of researchers and analysts to guide them through smooth post-closing integration processes.
  6. Provide strategic counsel to clients on a range of M&A matters, including deal structuring, risk assessment, and post-merger integration.
  7. Develop and implement growth strategies to expand the firm's presence in the US-Japan M&A market.

Qualifications:


  1. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field. Master's degree preferable.
  2. 10+ years of experience in deal sourcing and execution in the advisory, transaction, M&A, or investment banking environment.
  3. Proven track record of originating and executing complex cross-border M&A transactions.
  4. Understanding of financial analysis, valuation techniques, and risk assessment.
  5. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred:


  1. Fluency in Japanese and English: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  2. Deep understanding of Japanese culture and business practices.
  3. Professional Certifications: CFA, CPA, or other relevant certifications.
