Sefaria was founded in 2013 by best selling author: Joshua Foer and former Googler Brett Lockspeiser with the mission of taking the People of the Book into the digital age. Today, it is the world’s largest free, digital library of Jewish texts and translations. Sefaria provides an open-source, free-to-use digital platform with thousands of texts in Hebrew, English, and numerous other languages. Sefaria’s website and mobile apps (which reach more than 800K unique individuals every month) empower people to explore and engage with Jewish texts in new and meaningful ways, and its API powers hundreds of other Torah technologies. Sefaria represents a new era in Jewish learning, in which the Jewish textual tradition is truly accessible to all.
OPPORTUNITY FOR IMPACT
Sefaria is seeking a passionate and visionary Chief Product Officer (CPO) to lead their organization-wide product strategy, development, product design and product marketing. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with leaders across the organization, the CPO's impact will extend beyond the existing Sefaria website and apps, shaping the future of the entire Sefaria organization and its technologies. By leading the development and execution of groundbreaking digital products and experiences, this leader will ensure Sefaria remains an indispensable and cutting-edge resource for the global Jewish community. This leader will build and lead the product team and work cross-functionally to accelerate organizational priorities and initiatives. This is a special opportunity to leverage one's product expertise to imagine, design and produce new interfaces for Torah in the digital age and make the Jewish library accessible and engaging like never before.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create, define, and articulate a strong product vision aligned with Sefaria's mission and strategic goals
- Develop and execute product strategy for web and mobile applications
- Lead the creation and implementation of new digital products and experiences that enhance user experience and drive growth for Sefaria
- Translate product strategy into actionable plans, including roadmaps, feature prioritization, and release schedules
- Deepen understanding of target audiences and develop strategies to effectively engage and grow our user base
- Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor offerings and customer needs to identify growth opportunities and improve existing products
- Work closely with the engineering team to ensure timely and high-quality product delivery
- Ensure an exceptional, intuitive, and visually appealing user experience by leading design and interface efforts
- Define and track metrics & KPIs in line with Sefaria's multi-year strategic plan
- Supervise, coach, and develop the product, design, and product marketing team
- Present clear messaging about product value to stakeholders
- Participate in Sefaria leadership as part of the Senior Team
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of experience in product management
- Proven track record of building and launching successful digital products with high user engagement, including leading a product through the full lifecycle from concept to experimentation, to launch, and scaling
- Proficiency in all aspects of human-centered design, across customer research, experimentation, visual design, information design, interaction design, and experience design
- Passionate about influencing, motivating, and guiding teams to achieve strategic goals and objectives
- Exceptional leadership and management abilities, with a focus on inspiring team members
- Creative problem-solver with an innovative mindset
- Resilient and capable of navigating ambiguity and uncertainties
- Possesses an analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data-driven insights for informed decision-making
- Adaptable and willing to embrace change in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Skilled at maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
