Job Description

The Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity (GMHFH) ReStore in Swanton is seeking a part-time Associate to support its mission of helping local families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.
Summary:
Habitat ReStore Cashiers provide excellent customer service and ensures customers and donors have a safe, positive, and rewarding experience. They assist in pricing, merchandising, and maintaining the sales floor; cashiering, moving, and loading donations; and other duties as assigned.
Department: Swanton ReStore, in-person
FLSA Status: Part Time Hourly, Non-Exempt
Schedule: Part time according to store needs
Reports To: Store Manager
Supervises: None
Main Responsibilities:
· Engage customers in a helpful and respectful manner with a positive attitude
· Process customer transactions through the point-of-sale system (includes discounts, coupons, returns, tax exemptions, etc.)
· Guarantee integrity and accurate cash handling
· Ensure that the movement of merchandise is done in a safe and effective manner
· Keep all areas, in and around the ReStore, clear and free of safety hazards
· Perform additional duties as required, including stocking, cart retrieval, and price changes.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Help customers carry purchases to their vehicles.
- Sort clothing donations and prepare them for the sales floor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
Desired Education and Experience
- Previous experience working in a retail environment.
- High school diploma preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
· Previous cashier/cash handling experience or the ability to learn
· Good computer and math skills
· Self-motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic
· Enjoy working with people of diverse backgrounds
· Must be able to pass a criminal background check
· Friendly and helpful attitude
· Ability to stand for long periods
Must be able to:
· Stand for long periods behind a register, traverse stairs, and navigate a busy sales floor.
· Lift, pick up, carry, place down, and bring upstairs at least 25lbs.
· Squat to pick up items from the floor and perform repetitive data entry on register and pricing motions.
· Safely operate a large baling machine, sort through clothing donations, write receipts for donors, and use a pricing tool to price merchandise.
Compensation & Benefits
The hourly rate for this part-time, in-person position is currently $15 hourly, and the position includes a 20% to Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity ReStores.
