Habitat For Humanity is hiring: Custodian in Elgin

POSITION SUMMARY

Maintains bathrooms, breakroom, processing and receiving areas. Ensures these areas are clean and bathrooms sanitized. Also assists with moving materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures women and men’s bathrooms are clean and sanitized on a daily basis. Reports any issues to ReStore Manager.

• Cleans volunteer breakroom. Sweeps and mops floors. Puts away dishware.

• Empties waste bins in offices and on sales floor. Places recycled material in appropriate dumpster. Vacuums offices.

• Sweeps sales floor on regular basis. Dusts furniture and fixtures as needed. Ensures front entrance is clean and windows are cleaned regularly.

• Helps clean receiving area, sweeps, collects cardboard

• Assists with putting furniture on sales floor and removing sold items.

• Assists with processing during times of influx of donations

• Cleans, inspects and tests appliances. Fills out warranty forms.

• Facilitate a positive, team-oriented environment

QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of simple home improvement materials

• Capacity to load and unload trucks (residential materials and commercial pallet loads)

• Forklift license preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Great people skills

• Ability to relate to and communicate well with volunteers

• Basic knowledge of what items are appropriate for resale at the ReStore

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently

• Ability to bend, kneel and “be on one’s feet” the majority of their shift.
