Job Title: Cashier & Customer Service Assistant

Department: ReStore

Reports To: ReStore Retail & Merchandising Manager

Part Time

$16/hour



Overview:

Represent the Habitat brand through courteous interactions with customers to support our mission. Follows store policies and procedures in ringing purchases, handling returns or store credits. Ensure transactions are fast and efficient. As needed, complete Point of Sale (POS) procedures and resolve any over and shorts to reduce loss. Deliver friendly customer service to shoppers, donors, and volunteers.


Specific Duties:

  1. Complete Point of Sale (POS) opening and closing procedures to get the store ready for business and reconcile POS at the close of day. Prepare cash drawers. Prepare paperwork and bank deposits.
  2. Deliver great customer service at all times. Ensure transactions are fast and efficient.
  3. Follow store policies and procedures in purchase transactions, handling returns or store credits.
  4. Know Store robbery procedures and execute as needed.
  5. Actively resolve any cash or money shortage to reduce loss to ReStore.
  6. Forward any customer issues to Customer Service Supervisor or Store Manager as needed.
  7. Keep front retail area attractive, organized, and clean. Present great Habitat brand on the sales floor.
  8. Answers phone for ReStore and direct calls to appropriate person for resolution.
  9. Keep emergency fire exits clear and complete safety audits as required.
  10. Assist in maintaining great customer service by:
  11. Calling for customer assistance and for carry-outs for loading and unloading merchandise into customer’s vehicles.
  12. Calling for register back-up when more than 4 people are in line.
  13. Removal of abandoned items left at the register and put back on the sales floor.
  14. Help with punching tickets for markdowns following our 30, 60, 90 day markdown strategy.
  15. Assist in the coordination of volunteers in keeping sales floor organized.
  16. Assist in arrangement of displays and signage in the ReStore.
  17. Assist with housekeeping duties as scheduled and needed. Clean restrooms and clean floors.
  18. Demonstrate excellent communication skills with ability to interact with all levels of staff, volunteers and community partners in a positive and accommodating manner.


Requirements:

Training/Qualifications

  • Must be professional in phone etiquette, service, and a good representative of the Habitat brand.
  • Friendly, personable, and accommodating demeanor.
  • Must be customer and donor centered and able to resolve most issues.
  • Must be available to work flexible schedule including Saturdays.
  • Team Player able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.


Requirements

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. This position also requires manual dexterity to operate equipment as necessary. Indian River Habitat expects all employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the Affiliate. This individual must have a strong commitment and calling to Habitat, its mission, and Christian principles. This candidate must be willing to accept other duties as assigned by the ReStore Manager and President and CEO of Indian River Habitat.
