Job Description
The position will report to the Technical Manager and provide technical leadership to their assigned unit. This position is responsible for all technical aspects of assigned Powders production lines and associated equipment. This includes continual improvement in all key performance indicators. This position will work closely with the Shift Supervisors and the Maintenance/Engineering department.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Maintain and monitor daily production and quality metrics as well as operation logbooks to insure optimal unit operation and accurate reporting.
Ø Continually optimize production operations to maximize the Efficiency and On-Stream-Time of the manufacturing equipment.
Ø Lead safety training, conduct behavior-based safety audits, and provide a strong safety presence in the unit.
Ø Develop and review standard operating procedures to meet ISO9001 and PSM requirements.
Ø Minimize/eliminate out of specification production by ensuring equipment is maintained in the condition that is required.
Ø Conduct thorough/appropriate non-conforming product and customer complaint investigations necessary to identify root causes and effective corrective/preventive action to continuously reduce the amount of off-spec production and customer complaints.
Ø Investigate/identify causes of waste generation to minimize the amount of waste generated.
Ø Apply troubleshooting/problem solving techniques and resources, as required, to quickly respond to many varieties of operational issues.
Ø Collaborate with internal and external customers to minimize production impact.
Ø Identify, communicate, and eliminate production bottlenecks with Engineering/Maintenance to continually maximize production capacities.
Ø Train the salaried and hourly staff, as appropriate, on technical matters
Ø These experiences are deemed to be beneficial, but not necessarily all essential:
· Leadership experience in Chemical Plant Operations
· Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions.
· Knowledge of 5S and other Lean tools
· Knowledge of PSM, environmental and other regulatory requirements
· Plant commissioning
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
v BS degree in Chemical Engineering
v 1-year chemical manufacturing experience (2-5 years preferred)
v PSM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ISO exposure
Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative Operations
