SUMMARY:
The Extrusion Operator I works under close supervision and is responsible for operating an extruder while following detailed process instructions and maintaining accurate records of inspection and material usage. Schedule: 11 pm to 7 am.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain proficiency in the extrusion machine’s components and operational functionality through continuous hands-on experience and training on-site.
- Monitor the extrusion process on a continuous basis to report any irregularities, including blockages, fluctuations in temperature, or pressure variations.
- Inspect the extruded product regularly to ensure it meets customer specifications and quality standards.
- Load raw materials and ensure consistent feeding to maintain a smooth extrusion process.
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that emergency stops, and safety devices are functional.
- Maintain accurate records of production runs including inspection, time and material usage, settings, and any issues encountered for quality assurance and future reference.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules.
- Suggest ways to improve and promote quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
- Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent listening skills and initiative to seek clarification when instructions are not clear.
- Able to follow written work instructions.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, ensuring attention to detail.
- Adapt well to changes in the work environment and manages competing demands.
- Accept responsibility for one’s own actions.
- Able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds. Frequently lifting/moving up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
