Job Description:
Dr. Seunghee Cha's laboratory in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diagnostic Sciences at the College of Dentistry has an immediate part-time OPS position available for an OPS Phlebotomist. Duties include routine and advanced venipuncture specimen collection procedures. Under general supervision, following established standards and practices, collect blood from patients; instruct patients in the procedure for the collection of specimens. As well as Informed consent form acquisition, sample inventory management, and data entry into the database.

$15.00-$20.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent. Requires completion of phlebotomy training program or six months of recent phlebotomy experience (clinical or hospital-based preferred).

- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Dispose of contaminated sharps, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
- Draw blood from veins by vacuum tube, syringe, or butterfly venipuncture methods.
- Dispose of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies.
- Organize or clean blood-drawing trays, ensuring that all instruments are sterile and all needles, syringes, or related items are of first-time use.
- Transport specimens or fluid samples from collection sites to laboratories.
- Do specimen sample preparations.
- Assists with other duties as required to maintain efficient flow of patient care. Perform other duties (as assigned by doctor).
Work Schedule:
- Thursday, 08:30 a.m. to 04:30 p.m.
- Total of 8 hours per week
- Hours may vary due to collection volume

Preferred Qualifications:
One or more of the following is preferred:
- Graduation from a certified health-related program at the high school level or above; or
- Successful completion of advanced placement courses in the sciences at the high school level; or
- Successful completion of science-based studies at the college level (minimum of three credit hours). Prefer GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Must have computer operational skills using a personal computer, laboratory system or other hospital information system.

- Ability to prepare, sterilize, work area and supplies
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to plan, organize, and perform work assignments
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
