The Phlebotomist is responsible for preparing specimens for laboratory testing and performing blood draws to ensure high-quality sample collection.
This role requires maintaining a calm and professional environment for patients, ensuring proper specimen handling, and complying with all health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, and decontamination of equipment.
- Greet patients courteously, explain venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures, and help reduce patient anxiety.
- Execute blood collection using straight or butterfly needles while ensuring compliance with established procedures.
- Verify laboratory requisitions with specimen tubes, label accurately, and process specimens as required, including centrifuging, splitting, and freezing based on test orders.
- Package specimens for transport, store them at appropriate temperatures, and follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity.
- Demonstrate proficiency in specimen collection techniques and processing methods.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual training sessions.
- Respond to patient inquiries and relay laboratory results over the phone when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Exp required: 2+ years
- Valid Phlebotomy certification (required in CA, LA, NV, and WA).
- Minimum of 6 months' experience in venipunctures in a lab or hospital setting.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with a minimum of 4 years of driving experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel 100% within assigned geography.

- Strong patient interaction skills, both in person and over the phone.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
