POSITION:
Assistant Director / Membership Organizer Salary Range:
$42,000 - $48,000 Annually PRIMARY DUTIES
Membership Development - Organize membership and identify leaders Educate and train leaders and members Strategically plan organizing campaigns; direct and manage plans Develop organizing targets Recommend organizing ideas Develop Communications - write articles for newsletter and updates for website Confer with workers and management relative to personnel rules, policies, and programs Represent members in grievance proceedings Process grievances and appeals at procedure levels Work with Executive and Legislative branches of government Develop political action campaigns and engage in political activity Represent organization as a registered lobbyist Maintain budget and business plan Report association activities and business-related aspects to Board of Directors Perform other activities required or assigned by Executive Director EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Training and experience equivalent to bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field. Also, the required knowledge, skills and abilities: Business and staff management experience in public sector organizing and political development highly desirable Strong written and oral communication skills Strong leadership abilities Able to analyze and problem solve Skills to design and implement strategies Able to work within timelines under pressure Able to analyze employee problems and make recommendations Experience in contract negotiation a plus Organizing experience with member training, political action and mobilizing highly desirable Willing to work long and irregular hours; some nights and weekends Wyoming driver’s license as travel is required BENEFITS
