Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager the Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for performing and delegating general maintenance duties to Maintenance Technician and the Custodian. Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining the interior and exterior appearance of Urban Peak's properties, the plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC systems, building relationships with vendors, and managing warranties, equipment and inventory. This position will also respond to tenant reports on mechanical, plumbing or any other maintenance issues, maintaining the facilities fire and safety systems, structural repairs and painting of the facility as needed, and tracking and completing preventative maintenance for Urban Peak facilities.

This position will ensure that interactions, interventions and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff.

Who You Are:
  • 2 to 5 years' general maintenance experience in a residential or commercial facility.
  • Abilities to perform Maintenance Tech II duties.
  • A reliable vehicle is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • 1+ years' experience leading or supervising others in a similar field.
  • Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve encouraged but not required.
  • Experience with basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
  • Familiarity with commercial HVAC systems.
  • Ability to use computer-based work order tracking systems to include computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Outlook).
  • Experience working with at-risk populations preferred.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage day-to-day schedule independently.
  • Committed to trauma informed care and positive youth development.
  • Reliable and insurable transportation that can haul tools, equipment and inventory is required.
  • Must have and maintain operation of a smart phone that supports necessary applications and maintain a phone service to respond to emergency calls, emails, and maintenance requests.
  • Related experience includes commercial cleaning, painting and landscaping.
  • Must be able to work independently and uphold quality control standards as determined by Urban Peak.
  • Ability to use second language in written and verbal communication desired (Spanish, Vietnamese, ASL).
  • Must pass both federal and state background checks.
  • Must pass pre-employment TB screening.
What You Will Do:

The duties of this position are performed personally, in cooperation with your supervisor, and/or in coordination with other staff. Additional work functions and duties may be assigned.

General Maintenance
  • Ensure completion of minor repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical issues
  • Ensure completion of minor preventive maintenance to reduce the risk of future problems. Maintaining and working with vendors to ensure the safety systems are functional and in compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Working with vendors to maintain and repair facilities equipment and systems, this includes a full-size commercial kitchen
Residential Units
  • Ensure timely preparation of residential units for new occupants as well as the clean-up and repair of exited clients
  • Work with Facilities Manager for unit turnover timing and priority
Building Exterior & Sanitation
  • Ensure exterior aesthetics, cleanliness, and landscaping are maintained to local code requirements and Urban Peak standards
  • Ensure adequate sanitation at all properties and promptly address unsanitary conditions
Safety
  • Promptly address occupational safety concerns with leadership
  • Recommend and act on preventive safety measures
  • Document and report on safety concerns to management
Administrative & Oversight
  • Manage and assign work orders to the Maintenance Technician
  • Manage and assign tasks to Custodian
  • Order facility supplies as needed, work with vendors for quotes on repairs
  • Order vendor services and track warranty services
  • Manage cleaning vendor relations, address any concerns and request additional services as needed and within budget
  • Review and approve invoices
  • Determine routine/preventive maintenance schedules
  • Act as primary onsite contact for facility-related vendors
  • Organize and maintain documentation related to services, expenses, and facility systems
  • Read and respond to company emails in a timely manner
Supervisory
  • Effectively supervises and manages direct reports and provides, by example and leadership, motivation and direction to employees of the organization.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable state and federal employment laws.
  • Helps set the tone of the department to ensure morale, teamwork, and that the positive employment culture of the organization is maintained.
  • Delegate tasks to Maintenance Technician and Custodian
  • Assist Maintenance Technician and Custodian as needed
  • Fill in or provide vendor support for Maintenance Technician and Custodian duties as needed
Other
  • Gain functional familiarity with all critical facility systems
  • Ensure department always has necessary equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Salary: $70,000
  • Hours: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm

Who We Are:

Founded in 1988, Urban Peak is the only non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Our goal is to meet youth where they are and to provide them with the assistance and support, they need to become self-sufficient or obtain the necessary services they need to exit a life on the streets.

Urban Peak provides numerous programs and services that are founded on the principles of trauma-informed care and Positive Youth Development to assist youth in reaching their potential and living a successful life off the streets. Services include street outreach, a 40-bed shelter for youth ages 15 through 20, a daytime drop-in center, supportive housing, education and employment services, case management, life skills courses, behavioral health evaluations, meals and more.
