POSITION SUMMARY: The Development Director is responsible for planning for and ensuring New Voices' sustainability through revenue procurement and cultivating resources that address organizational need. The Development Director provides strategic vision, leadership, and guidance for New Voices' short and long-term sustainability including fundraising and grant writing, cultivating and managing organization-wide partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders. The Development Director assumes all roles and responsibilities associated with development tasks and activities, including but not limited to managing the organization's multi-million dollar charitable gifts portfolio with an objective of diversification; leading charitable gift projections and development-related operations in partnership with the Administrative Services Director; creating New Voices' grant language and narrative and managing the organization's grant portfolio; completing all required grant reports; and ensuring that relevant data is accurately collected through Bloomerang, New Voices' donor CRM.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and maintain a robust, diverse annual development strategy focused on institutional (foundations, organizations, and institutions) and individual donors.
- Track donor contributions and ensure that donor information is accurately entered and updated as needed.
- Serve as the central organizational strategist fostering revenue-generating partnerships with mission-aligned entities and individuals.
- Prepare documentation required for foundational funding for organizational projects and programs, including proposals and grant applications.
- Ensure that all donations, pledges, and grants are accurately and comprehensively tracked in Bloomerang, and that monthly donation and pledge reports are provided to the Administrative Services Director for reconciliation of development and finance records.
- Cultivate relationships with foundations, organizations, and individual donors to secure funding.
- Develop and implement strategies for donor retention, ensuring consistent and meaningful engagement with key stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Board to ensure the organization meets its fundraising goals and advances its mission.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- At least ten (8) years of experience in nonprofit fund development, with a proven track record of soliciting and receiving investments from local, regional, and national foundations, companies, and individuals, and experience managing a multi-million dollar fundraising portfolio.
- At least seven (7) years of related senior-level nonprofit experience, with a history of success in partnership cultivation, and organizational resourcing in a nonprofit, justice, community-based and/or advocacy organization.
- A proven track record of success managing, cultivating, and leading teams.
- A minimum of five (5) years of direct managerial experience and three (3) years' of experience working with Black women, Black queer folks, and Black marginalized people.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Affirms the core principles of the Reproductive Justice and Human Rights framework for Black women, Black queer folks, and Black marginalized people.
- Must be able to effectively discuss the Reproductive Justice framework and the importance of advancing the holistic well-being of Black women, Black queer folks, and Black marginalized people with diverse audiences.
- Strategic and innovative thinker with effective written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrates discipline and motivation in completing designated assignments.
- Must be reliable, organized, creative, flexible and resourceful.
- Exhibits creativity, resourcefulness, and flexibility.
- Proficiency in Google Suite applications and experience with CRM systems, especially Bloomerang.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm, motivation, commitment, integrity, optimism, and the ability to inspire others to engage with New Voices

WORKING CONDITIONS: 1) Works in a typical office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions; 2) Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; 3) Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times; 4) May be asked to travel to New Voices offices in Pittsburgh, PA, Philadelphia, PA or Cleveland, OH.
