Overview:

The Service Manager is responsible for managing the service department, including overseeing staff, improving service processes and ensuring customer satisfaction. They will develop strategies to enhance service quality, efficiency and profitability and will work closely with other departments to support the overall success of the dealership.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach and motivate service staff, including technicians, service advisors, BDC reps and other support staff.
  • Follow the policies and procedures for warranty work as set by the factory and educate staff on warranty procedures.
  • Keep current with all training for all Service employees.
  • Enforce policies and procedures set forth in employee guidelines, including the personal appearance and behavior policy.
  • Oversee daily service operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of repairs and maintenance.
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Service Department.
  • Constantly work towards meeting all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as outlined in the Acceptable Performance Standards for Service Manager.
  • Analyze financial statements and service reports to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement quality control measures to minimize comebacks and ensure customer safety.
  • Coordinate with the Parts Department to ensure timely and accurate parts procurement.
  • Implement and monitor safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced education in automotive technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive service.
  • Extensive knowledge of dealership operations, specific to the Service Department.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry trends and best practices.
