Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Peer Support Specialist in the MISSION Springfieldprogram at Behavioral Health Network!
Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the MISSION Springfield program with the following:
The MISSION-Springfield team, working alongside the Springfield Drug Court and UMASS Program Evaluators, provides clinical wraparound services to participants referred by the Springfield Drug Court. The clinical team uses the evidence-based MISSION-CJ model to address co-occurring mental health & substance use disorder treatment and support the needs of adults involved in the criminal justice system. Supports include clinical case management, individual and group work and supports, baseline and follow up assessments, and fidelity logs.

- Helping adults with problems with substance use with finding their own unique pathways to recovery.
- Mentoring and empowering their peers to be in the 'driver seat' of their lives.
- Ensuring quality of life through empowerment, safety awareness, respect and dignity.
- Facilitating mutual support and self-help groups and activities to support needs, wants and hopes of people receiving services.
- Sharing your own experience of recovery to support the persons served.
- Assisting individuals with organizing life activities.
- Providing support, resource information, and advocacy to help individuals move forward in their own process.
- Supporting consumers and families around behavioral needs and medical needs.

- Certification as a Peer Specialist.
- Knowledge of interviewing/counseling/recovery concepts and skills, including confidentiality.
- Ability to work as a team member, cooperating with other staff and follow through on tasks.
- Ability to relate and establish rapport with individuals served, family and service providers.
- Excellent communication skills.
- High motivation to work with a population in recovery.
- Spanish speaking language capability (preferred).
- MA Driver's License plus registered and insured vehicle for on the job use.
- Willing to work between 20-30 hours a week.
