Certified Peer Support Specialist - Drop In Center - Full Time

Our Peer Support Drop In Center is a welcoming place for clients to come grab a cup of coffee, receive support, and obtain resources to help them succeed.

As our Certified Peer Support Specialist, you will provide individualized, strengths-focused interactions with clients utilizing the Drop In Center at our main clinic off Garner Rd. in Raleigh. The purpose is to promote our clients with the development of wellness self-management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping skills, and self-advocacy skills and development of independent living skills for housing, employment, and full community inclusion.

Schedule

Mon - Fri, 9am-5pm

Pay

Starting pay is $18.00 per hour.

Job Responsibilities of a Certified Peer Support Specialist

  • Assist clients with self-determination and decision-making
  • Aid in development of functional skills (managing medication routines, budgeting skills, learning how to access health care, independent daily living skills)
  • Provide linkage to community resources
  • Maintain and submit required documentation (service notes, communication logs, data collection, incident reports and other as needed)
  • Recognize and appropriately respond to conditions that constitute an emergency
  • Promote inclusion through wellness activities provided during Drop In Center activities

Qualifications of a Certified Peer Support Specialist

Education and Experience

  • HS diploma or GED equivalent and be at least 18 years old
  • Min of 1 year working with the adult MH/SA population preferred

Licensure/Certifications

  • Active Certification in NC as Peer Support Specialist
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, Blood borne Pathogens training, and CPI

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of county resources and opportunities
  • Great "people skills" and an ability to make lasting community connections
  • Ability to monitor large groups of individuals in flexible space to ensure safety and access
  • HIPPA and Substance Abuse specific confidentiality and privacy rights
