Responsibilities
The Human Resources Intern is responsible for providing support in human resource related matters, specializing in the areas of recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, performance management, training and development and other general HR administrative tasks. Through this hands-on experience, the intern will be given opportunities to build upon their knowledge gained in the classroom and further develop their skills.
Key functions include but are not limited to:
- Create, edit and reformat job descriptions and job postings.
- Screen candidate resumes and conduct screening interviews, assist in interview scheduling.
- Conduct new hire follow up conversations at 30, 60, 90 days after hire and conduct exit interviews with departing employees as requested.
- Work within Workday (HRIS). Assist managers as they make Workday changes, such as putting in requisitions, etc.
- Help new hires upload SSN card correctly into Workday as needed.
- Respond to employment verifications.
- Create presentations on various topics.
- Assist with tracking human resources analytics.
- Research multiple areas and topics that managers and HR are wanting more informational detail on.
- Be a member of the MEC Events & Charitable Committee
- Be a member of the MEC Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee
- Assist with special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications
- Student actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources or Business.
- Past experience working in an office a plus.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Demonstrates professionalism in verbal and written communication.
- Strong customer service focus
- Flexibility and adaptability: switch gears on a moment’s notice and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Inquisitive and solution-oriented.
- Ability to prioritize tasks appropriately.
- Approachability.
This is a year-round internship opportunity beginning in the summer of 2025, with the flexibility to work 10-15 hours per week during the academic year.
