The Mechanical Designer/Draftsman is responsible for creating detailed mechanical drawings and designs based on specifications and calculations provided by engineers. This role involves using CAD software (AutoDesk Inventor preferred) to produce accurate and detailed technical drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company requirements. The Mechanical Designer/Draftsman collaborates with engineers and other team members to develop innovative and efficient mechanical systems and components. Key Responsibilities: Design and Drafting: Create detailed mechanical drawings and designs using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor). Prepare 2D and 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies. Develop layouts, schematics, and diagrams based on engineering specifications. Technical Documentation: Generate and maintain accurate and comprehensive technical documentation, including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and specifications. Ensure all designs adhere to industry standards, codes, and regulations. Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and constraints. Participate in design reviews and provide feedback to improve designs and processes. Coordinate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective. Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks on drawings and designs to ensure accuracy and completeness. Revise drawings based on feedback and changes in project scope or requirements. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical design and drafting technologies. Propose and implement improvements to design processes and tools. Qualifications: Education: Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, Design Technology, or a related field. Experience: 2+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting. Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.). Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and practices. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and design. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in designing for manufacturing (DFM) and knowledge of manufacturing processes. Certification in CAD software. Experience with PDM/PLM systems.
