As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality blood collection and ensuring that patients feel comfortable and informed throughout the process. Your role will be crucial in supporting our laboratory operations and contributing to the overall patient care experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection for laboratory testing, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
- Prepare patients for blood collection procedures by explaining the process and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Ensure proper labeling and handling of blood specimens for accurate processing and analysis.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the phlebotomy area and adhere to infection control procedures.
- Assist in patient data entry and maintain accurate records of blood collection and patient interactions.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare providers to facilitate seamless workflow and patient care.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of a phlebotomy training program is required.
- Current certification as a Phlebotomist (e.g., through ASCP, AMT, or NHA) is preferred.
- Previous experience in a phlebotomy role or related healthcare position is a plus.
- Strong patient care skills with a compassionate demeanor and excellent communication abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and best practices in blood collection.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and laboratory information systems (LIS) is advantageous.
