Key Responsibilities/Expectations:
Partner with full-time engineers to conceptualize, design, and develop innovative packaging solutions for various products. Enhance and validate sterile and non-sterile package designs, components, and processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Actively learn and optimize package process parameters in a hands-on environment to improve efficiency and effectiveness of packaging designs and operations. Evaluate and assess new package concepts and technologies utilizing our advanced prototyping capabilities. Develop comprehensive package testing strategies and conduct rigorous testing in our exceptional Package Development Lab to ensure quality, durability, and safety. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including suppliers, manufacturing sites (external and internal), as well as groups involved with labeling and sterilization, to ensure cohesive project execution. Build and enhance technical competencies related to packaging materials and processes used in manufacturing processes contributing to a deeper understanding of operational requirements. Maintain accurate documentation of packaging design and testing process, reporting findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders. Education:
Must currently be enrolled in and pursuing a bachelor’s degree. Experience and Skills:
Verbal and written communication skills. Project management, problem-solving, and presentation skills. Familiarity with Windows: word processing, project planning, presentation, e-mail, and spreadsheet software. Proven leadership and/or participation in campus extracurricular and community service activities. MS digital literacy including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Knowledge of statistical analysis and statistical analysis tools such as Minitab. Required:
Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university and be actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the following fields: Package Development Engineering, Package Science, Paper Science Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainability Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Biomedical/Bioengineering. Ability to work full time on-site (40 hours a week). Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future. Candidates must have the ability to work independently as well as on a team. Minimum GPA of 2.5 is required, which is reflective of all college coursework. Preferred:
Ability to commit to a June through December term. By start date of June 2025, student must be considered an undergraduate sophomore or above. Familiarity with ISO 11607.
