Responsibilities
The Senior Director of Business Development will be responsible for owning and driving the sales function for the Cell and Gene Therapy Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) services. As the primary customer-facing representative, the Senior Director will promote and drive the adoption of Comprehensive Cell Solutions (CCS) services, and lead efforts to acquire development and manufacturing contracts. This individual will also play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, crafting compelling proposals, and negotiating contracts with potential clients. Strategic Business Development & Opportunity Identification:
Lead business development efforts to identify and develop new business opportunities, expanding CCS's footprint in the cell and gene therapy CDMO sector. Actively prospect, qualify leads, and manage the sales funnel from initial contact through to the close of deals. Utilize market research tools, industry intelligence, and personal networks to identify high-potential clients and key decision-makers. Develop and implement strategies to target and attract new clients within defined market segments. Client Acquisition & Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients and key decision-makers. Own the customer journey from initial engagement, proposal creation, contract negotiation, to the successful onboarding of new projects. Focus on client retention by delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining ongoing communication post-sale. Sales Process & Proposal Development:
Lead and coordinate the creation of customized proposals and Scopes of Work (SOW). Develop sales presentations and materials tailored to client needs. Negotiate contracts and pricing terms with clients. Market Intelligence & Collaboration with Marketing:
Partner with the Marketing team to refine targeting strategies and develop campaigns. Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to pipeline growth, client acquisition, and revenue generation. Share insights and collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with company goals. Industry Representation & Networking:
Represent CCS at key industry conferences and networking events. Participate in booth exhibitions and schedule partnering meetings. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
Collaborate closely with technical, operational, and project management teams. Work with SMEs to deliver technical support during proposal and sales stages. Reporting & Performance Tracking:
Track sales activities and project status through CRM systems. Provide regular updates and detailed reports to senior management. Client Satisfaction & Retention:
Maintain ongoing communication with clients post-sale. Identify opportunities for upselling and expanding services with existing clients. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's or advanced degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline. Experience: 5 or more years of sales experience with a CDMO or cell therapy biotech/pharmaceutical company. Additional Qualifications: Strong network in the cell and gene therapy industry is highly preferred. Travel: At least 40% for client meetings, conferences, and industry events. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to navigate a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong customer engagement skills. Deep understanding of the CDMO space, particularly in cell and gene therapy. Strong analytical skills. Comfort with digital tools such as CRM systems and project management software. Highly organized and detail-oriented. This position requires a presence in Rye, NY. For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $150,000.00/Yr. to $160,000.00/Yr. For applicants outside of these areas, salary will reflect local market rates.
