General Summary:
Vertex is a global biotechnology company that invests in scientific innovation to create transformative medicines for people with serious diseases.
Vertex is seeking a talented leader to join the North America New Product Planning team to work on the APOL1-mediated kidney disease pipeline program, a disease impacting minority communities with significant levels of underdiagnosis. The Associate Director (Market Development) will focus on pre-launch market development: disease awareness and genotyping initiatives for both patients and HCPs. This role will initially report to Director North America New Product Planning for AMKD and will transition to a US Marketing team when the US Business Unit is established closer to launch. The successful candidate will have a track record of impact in commercial roles and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
In partnership with key internal functions (Global Marketing, Comms, Public Affairs) and external agencies, develop disease awareness and diagnostic strategies and plans, and take the lead in ensuring that the plans are specifically tailored to the needs of the US health systems, HCPs, and patients.
Lead development and continued execution of our AMKD US disease awareness campaign for HCPs including clear audience targeting, content strategy, and KPIs; ensuring alignment and synergies with cross-functional priorities and timing.
Lead operations for the Vertex APOL1 Sponsored Genetic Testing Program, working closely with multiple external diagnostic partners to deliver timely data and reporting, high-impact marketing activities, and actionable insights.
Lead AMKD HCP Strategic Council to deliver timely and actionable insights to inform tactics for broader AMKD market understanding.
Lead planning for unbranded congress booth build and execution.
Lead and manage agency partners to ensure timely, on-budget deliverables.
Work closely with the Commercial Review Committee (across legal, medical, and regulatory partners) for implementation of tactics.
Develop and sustain a high degree of therapeutic and market knowledge, and apply this knowledge as appropriate to ensure that plans are in synergy with the needs of the patients we serve.
Identify, analyze, and integrate business intelligence including changes in market trends, competition, product development, and new product releases, and translate these into actionable commercial insights to inform market development.
Note: role is hybrid (3 days per week onsite, and 2 days remote).
Knowledge and Skills:
Demonstrated ability to develop strategy, make strategic recommendations, and monitor performance.
Deep expertise in the development of marketing materials, and the Commercial Review Committee approval process.
Proven ability to work in a cross‐functional team setting (clinical, medical affairs, health economics, pricing & market access, government affairs, regulatory, legal, R&D, project management).
Ability to oversee generation of insights and apply those insights to business problems/opportunities.
