Position Summary The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) seeks a mission-driven, experienced, highly collegial, and collaborative finance leader to serve as its next Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA). As the University continues to advance
strategic priorities
that were set forth in 2018 and approaches its 150th anniversary, it has embarked on a
strategic planning process
focused on identifying opportunities to further advance its mission. The University has engaged constituents during the 2024 spring semester and will continue discussions over the course of the 2024-25 academic year so that the next VPFA can engage in the strategic planning process. Job Duties Reporting directly to the President, the VPFA is responsible for the stewardship of the institution’s financial, physical, and human resources, overseeing a range of key campus leaders: Associate Vice President for Business & Finance / Comptroller Associate Vice President for Planning & Campus Facilities Management Associate Vice President for Human Resources University Police Chief Director of Budgeting, Planning, & Analysis Director of Environmental Health, Safety, & Risk Management Manager, Vehicle Service The VPFA works closely with other members of the President’s leadership team, deans, department chairs, Faculty Senate, and others to ensure the effective and equitable application of UIW’s resources in the advancement of its mission. Qualifications Strong strategic planning skills and an understanding of current and future trends impacting higher education. A leadership style that prioritizes listening and engagement. A record of effective stewardship of an organization’s resources. The ability to identify processes that support coordination and collaboration. A skilled communicator with the ability to translate complex financial information. A passion for serving a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students. The highest levels of personal and professional integrity. An understanding of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and Catholic Social Teaching. Required Education A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. Required Work Experience Significant leadership experience in the areas of budget and finance, preferably within an institution of higher education. Preferred Qualifications A graduate degree and/or Certified Public Accountant license is preferred.
