PREREQUISITES FOR EMPLOYMENT:
-Must be over 18 years of age
-Available to work mid-May through end of August
-Basic knowledge of standard money handling procedures
-Pass both the Criminal and DCFS background checks
-Pass drug and alcohol screen
-Basic math skills exam and interview
HOURS: Varies, weekdays and weekends up to 40 hrs/week from mid-May through Labor Day
General Task Statement:
Responsible for the sales and daily operations of the Dempster St. Beach Office. Hires, trains, schedules, and manages gate attendants and office staff.
Supervision:
Under the direct supervision of the Outdoor Program Coordinator and Recreation Manager

Write: Ability to complete daily log sheets, accident reports, incident reports, jump reports, first-aid reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, and style.
Speak: Ability to give verbal direction to subordinates, communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, citizens, and the public as well as other employers; speaking extemporaneously on a variety of subjects.
Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with
hands.
Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds.
Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture.
Tasting/Smelling: Distinguishing, with a degree of accuracy, differences or similarities in intensity or quality of flavors and/or odors, or recognizing particular flavors and/or odors, using tongue and/or nose.
Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, embankments, and the like using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or running on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
Stooping: Bending body downward or forward by bending spine at the waist.
Kneeling: Bending legs at knees to come to a rest on knee(s)
Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg(s) and spine.
Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet
Seeing: The ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye. The important aspects of vision are:
the time and outside work 95% of the time with no effective protection from
weather conditions or temperature changes.

- Know and enforce all rules and regulations pertaining to the Evanston Lakefront
- Conducts recruitment and assists in hiring seasonal employees.
- Supports operations by maintaining office systems and supervising staff.
- Maintains office services by organizing office operations and procedures, controlling correspondence, designing filing systems, reviewing and approving supply requisitions, and assigning and monitoring clerical functions
- Maintains office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, and equipment procurement
- Designs and implements office policies by establishing standards and procedures, measuring results against standards, and making necessary adjustments.
- Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
- Keeps management informed by reviewing and analyzing special reports; summarizing information; identifying trends.
- Maintains office staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
- Maintains office staff and gate attendant's job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, and planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Inspects vessels and enforces rules at sailing beach and power boat launch
- Manages RecTrac waiting lists, rentals, beach passes and daily admissions
- Communicate and coordinate with Sailing and Aquatic Camp staff regarding rentals and lessons.
- Know current beach programs and events and be able to communicate details to patrons.
- Attend staff training sessions
- Collect all due monies and check beach tokens at the beach office
- Balance all collected monies at the end of each shift
- Responsible for effective and appropriate communication to patrons
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled by office manager and outdoor program coordinator
- Maintain a clean and safe office environment
- Responsible for care and maintenance of equipment and storage areas
- Complete written reports such as accident, incident, batch and the like on a timely basis
- Communicate to supervisor(s) if there are problems or issues needing special attention
- Performs other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisor
- Assumes responsibilities of Beach Office Manager in his/her absence
- Assists with pre and post-season maintenance-related tasks as assigned
