CAD Drafter

Position Summary:

Supports the design and engineering teams by creating detailed technical drawings and 3D models for shielding-related products, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project specifications.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide computer-aided design (CAD) drafting and 3D modeling using Autodesk Inventor or similar software, preparing drawings, schematics, and models derived from specifications, layouts, and blueprints.
• Create detailed 3D models and technical drawings to visually communicate design concepts, ensuring precision and clarity in all outputs.
• Support engineers and designers by transforming initial rough product designs into working documents and 3D models.
• Coordinate and consult with engineers, designers, and other team members to complete drafting projects accurately and efficiently.
• Collaborate with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original designs, 3D models, and final drawings.
• Assist with the review and modification of fabrication drawings to ensure accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with established specifications and standards.
• Implement and utilize automation tools, such as custom scripts or design templates, to improve drafting and modeling efficiency.
• Continuously seek ways to streamline drafting workflows and reduce design time while maintaining high quality.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all drafting and 3D modeling activities, ensuring that design processes are well-documented and accessible for future reference.
• Ensure that all drawings and models adhere to project standards and established specifications.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including assisting in design submittals and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the drafting team.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, Revit, or similar 3D modeling and drafting software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with drafting standards, specifications, and the design submittal process.
• Ability to adapt and learn new drafting software and automation techniques

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Associate's degree in Drafting & Design, or equivalent work experience.
• 2 or more years of related experience in CAD drafting and 3D modeling.
