Dykema Gossett PLLC, a leading national law firm, is recruiting for a Senior Word Processor. The core duties and responsibilities of this position include creating, editing, and manipulating legal documents; converting and formatting documents from one application to another; and proofreading documents for accuracy. This position is open to any of our offices in Michigan, Illinois, Texas, Minnesota or Wisconsin.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs initial input of legal documents from drafts, handwritten notes or tapes utilizing Word and other software.
- Extensive editing of complex, large volume legal documents.
- Creates special forms, graphs, tables, special merge documents, etc.
- Transcribe tapes or digital dictation.
- Perform regular redlines and track changes redlines on Word documents and PDF documents.
- Convert documents from PDF to Word or Excel.
- Create PDF fillable forms.
- Extract, redact and revise PDF documents.
- Mark headings, citations, generate Table of Contents and Table of Authorities on documents when needed.
- Create and revise pleadings for various state and federal courts.
- Create and revise PowerPoint presentations.
- Perform Bates Stamping and Bookmarks on PDF documents.
- Create and modify automatic numbering schemes and styles.
- Create, use, and modify watermarks.
- Perform mail merges of documents, envelopes, and labels.

- Performs miscellaneous legal secretarial duties at Office Administrator's request.
- High school diploma or equivalent educational training.
- Minimum five years of related work experience including legal word processing.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must have advanced word processing skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Knowledge of Crowther, DocX Tools, and DocuSign a plus. Converting and formatting documents from one application to another; proofreading documents for accuracy. Creating, marking, and generating TOCs (Table of Contents) and TOAs (Table of Authorities) and redlining.
- Experience with litigation and corporate documents.
- Competency in other PC applications including e-mail, troubleshooting software and hardware issues, etc. Experience with scanning and clean-up procedures preferred.
- Excellent written communication skills including familiarity with legal terminology, grammar, spelling, document formats, etc. required. Proven ability to prioritize and organize work, deviating from standard procedures as circumstances require.
- Typing requirement of 70 wpm.
- This position will be remote.
- This position will consist of 40 hours per week, with a work schedule of 1:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. (EST) or 12:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (CST).
