CLHSS is composed of a core and six programs spanning the data-knowledge-practice LHS lifecycle including evidence synthesis, implementation and evaluation science, pragmatic trials, digital health, and data democratization and model development. This position will report to the Data Analytics Manager. Our mission is to facilitate a pathway for investigators to pursue data-centric research that improves healthcare quality and delivery. This position will primarily consist of EHR data retrieval, collation of data sources, statistical analysis, and SQL database management. The successful candidate will be involved in supporting a variety of multidisciplinary projects with varying complexity and requirements and will work in both individual and team environments. They will also be involved in collaboration with researchers and PIs during intake meetings, follow-ups, and check-ins related to cohorting and analysis to ensure project deliverables are timely and complete, doing so by working closely with the Data Core Technical Project Manager, the Data Programs Manager, and the Data Analytics Manager. They will also mentor associate data analysts on cohorting projects. Our ideal candidate has experience in biostatistics, strong quantitative analytical skills, and a demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy. Duties/Responsibilities 50% Data analysis & management Analyzes data collected from data abstraction using R, SQL, Python, and/or STATA. Assisting in management & utilization of LHS datamart databases. Conducts analysis such as regression analysis, propensity matching analysis, and creates solutions for missing data. Synthesizes data in easily readable formats and prepares graphs, charts, tables and reports of data. Derives theoretical basis for data and fits data to theory and analysis of error. Maintains annotated, reproducible documentation of codes. Identifies new analytical methods and models to drive insight into health outcomes and quality improvement. 45% Data cleaning and data wrangling Conducts entry-level data retrieval and data transfers to aid in building a dataset requested by our research investigators. Keeps detailed records of data abstractions. Executes data abstractions using methods created by data analysts, Data Analytics Manager, or novel methods developed as needed. Independently creates and plans data cohorts based on the investigator's data request form, researching the relevant literature, meeting with the investigatory team and collaboration with the senior biostatistics data analyst. Reviews literature relating to specific research projects. Confers with Data Analytics Manager & Data Programs Manager on division of labor and plans for execution of more complex data requests. Mentoring associate data analysts. 5% Manuscript writing Assists in writing methods and results sections for manuscript and grant submissions. Work Arrangements: This position follows UMN Work. With Flexibility. guidelines. Currently, the position will be primarily working from home. There may be occasional needs to be on campus and over time there may be a need to set a regular schedule for a few days on campus each week. Work hours should follow a regular schedule between 7-5, M-F. Qualifications Required Qualifications: BA/BS degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience or a masters degree Proficient with regression analysis, propensity matching analysis, and solutions for missing data. Proven experience in statistical analysis, data management, a d handling large datasets Proficient with Electronic Health Records (EHR) data and experience in working with clinical datasets. Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R, STATA, and/or SAS. At least 2 years of relevant experience & proficient ability with database management systems (e.g. SQL, programming, query optimization, debugging code, knowledge of MS SQL Server) Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset. Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to troubleshoot complex problems. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: 4+ years' experience and/or coursework in information technology, statistics, healthcare or management including database management. MPH, MS, or related graduate degree. Experience with ETL processes, machine learning, or predictive analytics. Publication experience in peer-reviewed journals. Ability to function effectively in a complex organizational environment and ability to successfully relate and interact with diverse groups of people. Experience working in an academic environment.
