General Definition of Work: Performs semiskilled work cleaning of school building interiors, maintaining grounds, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the assigned site supervisor.
Essential Functions:
This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel and pushing or pulling; frequently requires speaking or hearing and lifting and occasionally requires sitting, climbing or balancing; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires using measuring devices, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work occasionally requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to read; thoroughness, cleanliness; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate required.
Contract Period: 12 months

Essential Functions:
- Opens and secures building
- Sweeps, strips, buffs, waxes or dust mops assigned areas; cleans carpets; sweeps and mops cafeteria floors; moves tables and chairs
- Removes trash from building; picks up trash outside of buildings; maintains porch areas
- Scrubs, cleans and sanitizes restrooms including mirrors, washes basins, urinals, commodes, etc.; fills tissue, towel and soap dispensers
- Cleans walls and removes graffiti
- Dusts furniture, walls, windowsills and other woodwork; cleans windows
- Sanitizes and cleans drinking fountains
- Mows grass, weedeats, removes leaves
- Replaces light bulbs and ceiling tiles
- Hauls books and papers; moves furniture
- Cleans up spills and sanitizes areas following incidents involving bodily injuries
- Assists with overseeing car riding students entering and exiting the facility
- Assists maintenance technicians as required
- Assists with snow removal and ice control
- Performs various other tasks associated with the custodial profession
