Custodian II
QUALIFICATIONS :
- A high school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of three years' custodial experience is required.
- Must meet background clearance as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
FLSA STATUS : Non-exempt
REPORTS TO : Custodial Supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan. Length of the year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Maintains standards and procedures for work of custodial staff as outlined. Plans work schedules in conjunction with the immediate supervisor to ensure adequate service.
- Inspects and evaluates physical condition of the work location.
- Submits to supervisor recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment and reallocation of space.
- Recommends to immediate supervisor custodial supplies and equipment to be used and maintains an appropriate inventory of them.
- Investigates new and improved cleaning instruments and methods.
- Operates and maintains machines as appropriate in the performance of duties.
- Performs minor maintenance (replaces screws, nails, etc.) if assigned by Custodial Supervisor.
- Cleans and maintains buildings and grounds to include but not limited to using equipment, sweeping, wet and dry mopping for assigned/scheduled areas.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students, personnel, and all job related matters.
- Participates in in-service training programs as assigned.
- Help in other custodian scheduled areas and/or redirect other custodians if assigned by Custodial Supervisor.
- Assume other reasonable job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively.
- Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
- Ability to recognize problems, collect data, gather facts, and make reasonable decisions.
