REPORTS TO : Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan.

QUALIFICATIONS :
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Demonstrated experience in custodial work preferred.
- Meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statues and State Board of Education regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Maintain building security and policing grounds.
- Cleaning, sweeping, dry mopping floors.
- Cleaning and restocking of restrooms and restroom fixtures.
- Cleaning classrooms and offices, vacuuming carpeted areas, dusting furniture and office machines.
- Cleaning of windows and window sills and removal of debris from the building(s).
- Responsible for buffing/burnishing, stripping and refinishing of hard surface floors.
- Shampooing, spotting and extracting carpet.
- Light bulb replacement, HVAC filter service and other project work.
- Provide emergency cleanup for spills.
- Responsible for reporting needs for other repairs and maintenance.
- Moves or assists in the moving of heavy furniture, equipment, and objects from room to room, floor to floor, and into or out of buildings.
- Responsible for maintaining/ordering custodial equipment and supplies and scheduling project work.
- Performs and/or assists in event or special program set-ups and assists faculty and staff as time permits.
- Shift schedule as determined by the principal and the needs of the facility and performs other duties as assigned.
- Participate successfully in training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.
- Participate in cross training activities as required.
- Assume other reasonable job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Good communications skills.
- Ability to work with others.
- Ability to get along with staff, faculty, and students.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the successful completion of tasks.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to follow oral and written communications.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, and cleaning equipment.
- Physical ability to lift moderate weights.
- Sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity to perform all required tasks.
- Ability to follow required approved health/safety standards and procedures.
- Ability to insure employees under their supervision follow required approved health/safety standards and procedures.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to use and distribute cleaning products and equipment.
