Enrichment Assistant/Tutor
Reports to: Texas ACE Site Coordinator Initiated Date: October 9, 2018 Revised Date: September 10, 2024
Pay Grade: (Part-time Grant)

District Primary Purpose: To assist and promote La Joya ISD in implementing a rigorous curriculum/instructional program that supports student success and achievement.
Department Primary Purpose: To provide Elementary students with academic assistance in academic areas where improvement is needed. To provide enrichment activities for Elementary student's to positively impact their social and emotional well-being.
Qualifications: Required-High School Student (Enrolled in La Joya ISD) or High School Graduate; preferred-College level student/College graduate.
Under direct supervision of the Texas ACE Site Coordinator/teacher, tutor will perform the following tasks:
1. Provide supervision of students during the after-school program.
2.Determine from student notes and discussions, the concepts that need to be taught or retaught (homework assistanc
3. Become familiar with the materials for which tutoring services/enrichment activities are to be provided.
4. Conduct tutorials sessions in all areas of mathematics.
5. Conduct mini-lessons in the process of writing in all subject areas, study skills, and other aspects of higher education preparations.
6.Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
7. Encourage students to set and maintain standards for classroom behavior.
8. Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for ACE students to follow.
9. Work with students in any phase of the writing process, such as brainstorming, clustering,
revision, and editing.
10. Communicate frequently and honestly with the ACE coordinator/teacher regarding student
progress and areas of concern.
11. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individual or student groups involved.
12. Facilitate planned enrichment and/or recreational activities to group of students.
13. Provide enrichment and recreation leadership for ACE program students.
14. Foster students' self-esteem and motivation through positive interaction.
15. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and
facilities.
16. Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify.
17. Assist in formulating, upholding, and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and
Board policy.
POSITION WORKING DAYS: Maximum 15-20 hrs. Weekly
