Private Investment Director
Opportunity to work for an experienced Senior Private Investment (“PI”) Specialist in managing and allocating $1.5 billion annually to private investments for current clients. The individual will partner closely with the Boston Investment Group (“TB”) working to support their clients as well as private investment carveouts led by the Senior PI specialist. TB is a dedicated portfolio management team who manages over $11 billion in client assets. The team is the dedicated investment office for 15 family offices in the U.S., Canada, Central America, Latin America, and Brazil. The team has consistently delivered top decile returns and are laser focused on timely client engagement and efficient portfolio execution. The team continues to grow organically through client referrals given their high touch, white glove service to clients. The team is guided by these objectives: Generate top quartile investment performance Act as a client’s dedicated investment office Actively foster and facilitate enhancing our client’s network and investment knowledge Develop the next generation of talent: the team has a flat structure with clear roles and ownership of investment processes. All team members meet daily to discuss investment themes, review client portfolios, and discuss prospective managers while staying laser focused on task/project delivery. Private Investment Director Responsibilities
The private investment asset classes include venture capital, growth equity, private equity, secondaries, private credit, and real assets. The Private Investments Investment Director works for the Sr. Private Investment Specialist and has four primary responsibilities: Ensure a coordinated private investment process and effective portfolio monitoring across clients, with support of the team’s Investment Analysts including: forward calendars, indications of interest, client materials & recommendations, portfolio monitoring, effective responses to ad-hoc client requests, manager meetings. Research private investment asset classes, products, and investment managers in coordination with our team and our global manager research colleagues including: perform due diligence on managers, lead, and deliver private investment research projects. Portfolio construction: develop, implement, and review our client’s private investments portfolios/programs. Advise clients on their private investments portfolios, make recommendations on new commitments to funds and respond effectively to client inquiries. Participate in team meetings sharing knowledge and being a thought partner to the team. Qualifications
Eight to ten years of applicable investment experience required, gained from work in a similar capacity at either a family office, large institutional investor (such as a pension fund or endowment), fund-of-funds, or at a private equity investment firm. Understand private investments, trends, and markets including key characteristics of each PI asset class and their role in client portfolios. Familiarity with private investment portfolio strategy and construction. Bring manager knowledge and relationships. Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative analytical skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to deliver on time with high accuracy and quality. Strong organizational skills. Proven ability to prioritize competing deliverables based on need and timing. Strong attention to detail – ability to review, edit, and ensure high quality deliverables. Able to work effectively with autonomy and collaborate effectively with an integrated team. CFA and/or MBA preferred.
