Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. This role involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and ensuring accurate and courteous patient interaction.
Responsibilities
This position is based in Closter, NJ. The work schedule is Monday and Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. The back area involves processing, including centrifuging, processing SPM, and entering data into the system for the main lab, all of which are electronic. The work environment is fast-paced with high volume, requiring someone who can adapt and deal with different personalities. Candidates should have experience with difficult sticks and maintain good energy as patients are often going through challenging times. The goal is to minimize the number of sticks to patients to no more than two times. Certification is not required for this phlebotomy position.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. This role involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and ensuring accurate and courteous patient interaction.
Responsibilities
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Properly explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections in a clear and courteous manner.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
- Check all test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure 100% accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport.
- Store specimen samples according to required temperature and follow specific protocols for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen.
- Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
- Experience in blood draws and phlebotomy.
- High volume blood draw experience.
- Experience with straight needles and centrifuges.
- Ability to take and understand blood pressure readings.
- GED or HS Diploma required.
- Phlebotomy experience in a high volume patient service center or oncology center.
