Position: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
Location: Smyrna, TN area

State Requirements to Bee a DHH Teacher in Tennessee:

  • A Bachelors degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a closely related field.
  • Tennessee state licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Valid Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) certification in Deaf Education or Special Education with a focus on DHH.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is often preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience working with students who have hearing impairments is highly valued.
