This position is Part-Time Temporary, Non-Exempt position with an hourly rate of $16.92. This position is non-bargaining. The individual in this position will be stationed in the City Hall Building located at 7 North Dixie Highway, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33460.

Job Summary

The City of Lake Worth Beach is looking for an enthusiastic Part-Time HR Intern to join our Human Resources team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in various HR functions, including recruitment, employee onboarding, data management, and policy support. The HR Intern will work closely with the HR team to contribute to meaningful projects and support daily HR operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment & Selection Support:
    • Assist in posting job openings and screening resumes.
    • Help schedule and coordinate onboarding communication with candidates.
    • Participate in the interview process when possible and assist with pre-employment screenings.
  • Onboarding & Orientation:
    • Support the onboarding process by preparing new hire paperwork and organizing orientation materials.
    • Coordinate with the HR team to schedule and conduct employee orientations.
    • Ensure all new hire documents are complete and filed accurately.
  • HR Data Management:
    • Maintain and update employee records.
    • Assist in ensuring HR databases and systems are accurate and up-to-date.
    • Generate and compile reports as needed for HR team members.
  • Employee Relations & Communication:
    • Help respond to employee inquiries and direct them to the appropriate resources.
    • Support communication initiatives, including preparing memos, emails, and notices for employees.
    • Contribute to employee engagement projects, such as events, newsletters, or wellness initiatives.
  • Policy & Compliance Support:
    • Assist in maintaining compliance with city policies and HR procedures.
    • Help track mandatory training and safety protocols.
    • Participate in reviewing and updating HR policies as directed by HR management.
  • General Administrative Support:
    • Provide administrative support to the HR team, including organizing files, scheduling meetings, and preparing documents.
    • Participate in HR meetings, taking notes, and assisting with follow-up tasks.
    • Assist with special HR projects or research as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Current enrollment in, or recent completion of, a degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience: No prior HR experience required; previous internship or administrative experience is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Familiarity with HRIS or HR software is a bonus but not required.

Working Hours & Environment

This is a part-time internship position, typically 20-29 hours per week, with some flexibility to accommodate class schedules or other commitments. This role will be primarily based in the City of Lake Worth Beach HR office.
