We are actively seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team in either Oakland or Walnut Creek, serving our esteemed legal client. The ideal candidate must bring substantial experience in the legal industry. This role is hybrid splitting office location between Oakland and Walnut Creek. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location. Expected starting base salary $120,000 to $150,000 per year.

Responsibilities:
- Team Management:
- Lead and develop the firm's Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll team members.
- Oversee tasks such as hiring, training, work assignment, performance evaluations, discipline, termination, and salary administration.
- Billing and Invoicing:
- Supervise matter intake, time entry, and Billing processes to ensure accurate and timely client invoicing.
- Confirm adherence to client billing guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Billing team for prompt and accurate billing rate changes.
- Accounting Systems:
- Maintain the accounting systems database, including user setup and deletion.
- Liaison with vendors to address any technical issues.
- Accounts Receivable and Payable:
- Manage the Accounts Receivable process, ensuring daily deposits are made and posted.
- Assist in collections of past due balances.
- Oversee the Accounts Payable process, ensuring timely and accurate check runs within budget.
- Payroll:
- Supervise Payroll staff in processing bi-weekly payrolls.
- Ensure proper withholding of statutory and voluntary deductions.
- Work with payroll vendor for timely and accurate remittance of payroll taxes.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Perform and review general ledger reconciliations.
- Monitor and calculate custom compensation reports on a regular basis.
- Prepare necessary monthly reports regarding Billing, AR, AP, and Payroll.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Conduct ad hoc analysis and projects as requested by the Director of Finance or other Directors and Senior Management.
- Perform other functions as assigned.

- Demonstrated understanding of law firm billing/accounting system software.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office/Office 365.
Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting, payroll, and legal billing experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance is required.
- Demonstrated experience in the legal industry is strongly desired.
- 5+ years of direct supervisory experience with accounting teams required, showcasing strong team-building skills and the ability to motivate staff.
