JOB DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Works under the supervision of the Detective Division Lieutenant.
Receives incoming calls from the public and answers questions; responds to inquiries from employees, citizens and others and refers, when necessary, to appropriate persons.
Composes, types and edits a variety of correspondence, reports, memoranda and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy and completeness.
Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City.
Receives and distributes incoming mail.
Assist in maintenance of confidential files.
May be required to attend meetings and take minutes.
Transcribes oral dictation which may be graphic, explicit and sensitive in nature.
Attendance at work is an essential part of this position.
Act as court liaison by attending preliminary court hearings and documenting outcomes/needs.
Coordinate subpoena receiving and distribution.
Facilitate delivery of warrants and other documents to the courts.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
May have minimal supervision duties over volunteers.
May be required to assist other police divisions as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position is subject to the City of Farmington's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing.
Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record for past three years.
Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices.
Ability to type 60 wpm or at a rate sufficient to perform duties of job.
Working knowledge of computers; comprehensive knowledge of word processing with emphasis in Microsoft
Office software packages.
Ability to effectively deal with the public; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to handle stressful situations.
Ability to maintain confidential, sensitive material.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, city employees and the public.
Ability to operate a personal computer, typewriter, calculator, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and dictating equipment.
Past experience or combination of education and experience sufficient to perform duties of job.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Calculator, phone, scanning machine, fax and copy machine, computer (desk top and lap top) motor vehicles.
