Must be able to understand, speak, and write English fluently. Basic computer skills are required. Description: The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring equipment consistently meets the highest quality and safety standards. This position involves receiving and processing incoming supplies and equipment, including performing cleaning and sterilizing duties. Responsibilities include handling, processing, and storing medical instruments, monitoring sterilizer equipment for adherence to specifications, and preparing packs of supplies, linens, and instruments. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: - Collect, clean, disinfect, and decontaminate instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established policies and guidelines. - Prioritize workload according to needs and collect dirty instruments and equipment from various departments. - Disassemble, inspect, and manually decontaminate instruments and equipment using appropriate tools and detergents. - Operate mechanical decontamination equipment, such as washer-decontaminators and ultrasonic cleaners. - Inspect surgical instruments and medical equipment for repair, replacement, and cleanliness. - Assemble, wrap, or containerize instruments and equipment and select appropriate chemical indicators based on sterilization mode. - Communicate with staff to prioritize workload according to schedule needs, and assist in locating and turning over surgical trays. - Appropriately handle, scan, and store sterilized items. - Monitor sterilizers and equipment using mechanical, biological, and chemical methods according to quality standards. - Follow established policies to maintain a safe environment and reduce infection risks. - Train and orient new staff, participate in department educational programs, and maintain cleanliness and inventory control. - Distribute supplies and equipment in a timely fashion, responding to urgent needs.
