Basic computer skills. Description: The Sterile Processing Technician ensures equipment consistently meets high quality and safety standards. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and adherence to protocols. The position involves processing incoming supplies and equipment by performing cleaning and sterilizing duties. Responsibilities include handling, processing, and storing medical instruments and monitoring sterilizer equipment for adherence to performance specifications. Tasks include collecting, receiving, cleaning, disinfecting, and decontaminating instruments and equipment according to hospital policies. Workload prioritization is based on the needs of the operating room and hospital units. Dirty instruments and equipment are collected from departments, and appropriate cleaning procedures are followed. Instruments and equipment are inspected for cleanliness and proper functioning, wrapped or containerized, and prepared according to sterilization mode. Sterilizes instruments, equipment, and supplies as required, with proper storage of sterilized items. Monitors sterilizers for compliance with standards, conducting daily biological and diagnostic tests, and documenting results. Handles department, patient, and hospital information confidentially. Suggests improvements, accepts constructive feedback, and maintains a collaborative team environment. Serves as a departmental expert, participates in training new staff, and facilitates educational programs and meetings. Distributes supplies and equipment to hospital units in a timely manner and responds to urgent needs. Complies with all relevant policies, standards, and codes of conduct. Additional note: Shift hours are Sat-Sun 7pm-7:30am and two weeknights 11pm-7:30am.
