Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Job Specialty: General Surgery Job Duration: Part-Time Shift: Varied 8 hours, Days/Evenings Guaranteed Hours: 64 hours per pay period Experience: 1 year preferred; new graduates considered License: Graduate from an accredited Associate degree surgical technologist program Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through governing body, obtained within 12 months of hire; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Must-Have: Solid PC skills including MS applications, Internet Job Description: - Assists the surgeon during operative procedures with duties such as holding retractors, cutting suture material, connecting drains to suction apparatus, and applying dressing. - Creates a safe environment by implementing surgical asepsis, sterile techniques, surgical conscience, universal precautions, and safety procedures. - Cares for instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery to ensure proper functioning for future use. - Participates in Quality Improvement activities to ensure exceptional care for surgical services. - Recognizes emergency situations and responds promptly and effectively. - Collaborates with healthcare providers to ensure optimal outcomes. - Evaluates own practice in relation to professional standards and relevant regulations. - Complies with legal, regulatory, accrediting, and procedural requirements. - Follows principles and standards as outlined in the organization's Code of Conduct. - Protects privacy and accesses information as needed for job duties. - Reports violations or concerns to leadership or compliance officers.
