Quadratic 3D, Inc.
Associate Materials Scientist
Quadratic 3D, Inc., Boston, Massachusetts, us, 02298
We are seeking a highly motivated materials scientist to collaborate with senior staff in the design of next-generation 3D printing resins. Successful candidates will be passionate about polymer chemistry, excited to solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment, and comfortable in a multidisciplinary environment spanning chemistry, materials, optics, and software.
Responsibilities:
Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize formulations that produce 3D printed components with application-enabling thermal, mechanical, optical, and other performance properties. Characterize resins and polymer materials via UV/Vis and IR spectroscopy, (photo)rheology, DMA, DSC, tensile/flexural/impact testing, etc. Contribute to the development of workflows for high-throughput analyses and organization/visualization of large volumes of diverse chemical data. Collaborate with synthetic chemists to design additives to improve photopolymerization kinetics. Contribute to process development efforts such as scale-up of resin production and post-processing of 3D printed parts. Minimum Qualifications:
BS or MS degree in Materials Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (or a related degree with relevant coursework). Excellent command of the basics of polymer science. 1 year of experience in a chemical research environment.
Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent documentation skills and habits (e.g. laboratory notebook entries, presentations, and reports). Evidence of achievements in the laboratory (e.g. presentations, papers, and/or strong recommendations from supervisors). Preferred Qualifications:
Minimal guidance needed in the planning and execution of experiments. Fluency in a general-purpose programming language such as Python, particularly as applied to data analysis and visualization. Experience implementing statistical techniques to aid in formulation or other experimental design, e.g. design-of-experiments (DOE) methodology and/or software tools such as JMP. Familiarity with the basic principles of organic chemistry and photopolymerization. Experience deploying custom software tools in a chemical environment. Benefits
We offer competitive compensation packages in our VC-backed startup. Beautiful setting looking out over a river and seaport; outdoor seating and picnic areas. Highly collaborative work environment. Additional Information:
